WHAT IS VOLUMETERICS

VoluMetrics (VM) is a patent-pending software platform that analyzes game animals after they’ve been scanned and rendered into a unique digital 3D data file. VM algorithms map, measure, and record this data in minute detail, and from this analysis, VM can accurately and consistently score any antlered or horned animal in any established scoring methodology, such as Boone & Crockett (B&C) and Safari Club International (SCI). In addition, VM’s algorithms produce an accurate total volume measurement of the scanned object—a revolutionary breakthrough for the outdoors industry.

VoluMeterics is the most accurate game animal
measuring and scoring system on the planet.

With machinist-grade accuracy and repeatability down to the 100th of an inch, VM is the most accurate game animal measuring and scoring system on the planet. Applications are wide ranging, from wildlife studies, management and conservation efforts, taxidermy and replication production, as well as trophy game measuring and scoring. Currently, we are working with several organizations across the U.S. and abroad to produce in-depth data on wildlife species, and VM has been adopted as the official measuring and scoring system for the “World’s Largest Whitetail Deer Contest” held each year by Los Cazadores in Texas.

VOLUMETRICS SCORING

VoluMetrics was designed by an international team of hunter-programmers to map millions of data points captured by a unique 3D scan of any trophy game animal. Once the data is captured, VoluMetrics’ algorithms compute virtually any measurement with stunning speed and accuracy.

Calculations begin with the precise identification of burr planes, the exact junction through which antlers or horns meet the skull. Next, VoluMetrics recognizes the animal’s main beams and computes their skeletal centerlines, the exact mathematical center of the beams and tines. Then VoluMetrics instantly counts, labels and measures all tine lengths, as well as inside, outside and tip-to-tip spreads before recording myriad mass measurements and other calculations. Finally, with a click of a button, official scoring sheets are auto-populated and totaled right before the user’s eyes. With VoluMetrics there’s no more fumbling with tape measures or botching the math!

WHAT IS VOLUME MEASUREMENT

Volume is the amount of space occupied by an object. Because antlers, horns and animal skulls are three-dimensional objects, measuring them in two-dimensional linear units (inches, feet, yards, etc.) is inherently limited. Three-dimensional cubic measurements, however, account for every bit of bone, horn or antler the animal grows without penalizing it for non-uniformity or small tine length. But while the volume of uniform objects are simple to calculate, complex organic shapes such as deer antlers are not. Historically, the only way to measure an antler’s volume was via the costly and time-consuming water displacement technique that can only be conducted in a controlled laboratory environment … until VoluMetrics was created.

Conservation with Trophy Scan

VOLUMETRICS IN CONSERVATION

VoluMetrics has been chosen for worldwide research and conservation projects to record and glean valuable data that can be used by game managers, biologists, big game breeders, conservation agencies as well as museums and taxidermists. Once an animal is fully mapped by this cutting-edge software, the data is stored in Trophy Scan’s database for safe keeping, comparative analysis, authentication and replication.
